Exploring a Personal & Experimentative Relationship with Filipino Indigenous Psychospirituality

Inspired by the work of Dr. Carl Cervantes, author of Sikodiwa: Revisiting Filipino Indigenous Wisdom for Personal and Shared Well-Being, this event focuses on exploring a spiritual understanding of the Filipino diasporic experience on where and how cultural aspects of psychology and spirituality remain intact within. Through the lens of personal experience and cultural relativism, this workshop aims to have participants explore their relationship with concepts like utang ng loob (“debt of gratitude”) and how these ideas may apply to life here, and how they may be alike to local Indigenous beliefs and practices, highlighting solidarity between seas. This event includes a presentation going into concepts from Sikodiwa, supplemented by personal experiences and independent research by the host and others who are free to add their stories, as well as introspective activities and discussion to partake in.
